Parking in the Park

The main streets in the park had been plowed as of five days after the big snow storm, but some parking area were still covered with snow. This is not a problem, however, because there aren't that many people trying to use the park this week.

Snow in Middletown Park

This was photographed five days after the record-setting snow storm. Winter can be as beautiful as any other season.

Winter Wonderland

We had close to 20 inches of snow yesterday. I can't get out of my driveway, so today's picture is in my neighborhood, taken while the snow was falling.

Lightning and a Tree

I believe the starburst in the middle of this log is a sign that this tree was struck by lightning.

A Little Snow

We got just enough snow yesterday to remind us of how pretty it can be.

Check my other photo site for a few more.

Snow is in the forecast for today. It should be a perfect day to use some of this firewood. And of course I'll photograph the snow and post the result tomorrow.

Theme Day: Waiting

As I was scrolling through photos looking for scenes of people waiting in line or cars waiting for a green traffic light, I stumbled on this picture I took a few weeks ago. The dog is waiting for his human to throw something in the lake for him to retrieve. And the dog is wading. Waiting and wading - some goofy synergy to that. Happy Theme Day!

For the locals, this is taken from the intersection of Hwy. 17 and Pete Wiles Road.

A Darling Hydrant

Walking around town gives you a much more interesting perspective than driving through. As you drive past this fire hydrant, you might notice that it is red. That's about it; there is not much else to see from your car.

But walk past it and you'll see the words American Darling stamped onto the hydrant. I had no idea what that meant as I took the picture ... I just wanted to show the irony of the word 'darling' on a fire hydrant.

So I looked it up, and discovered two things: American Darling is a fire hydrant brand and there are fire hydrant web sites.

Angle View 1

For the next few days I'm posting shots taken on an angle. I was looking for a different perspective. Some of these might make you dizzy.

Spider On the Driveway

I have never seen a spider that looks like this.

It is not as big as it looks in this photo; it is about the size of a quarter.

Skywatch Friday: On The Road in OC

No, this is not in Middletown. I shot this on a recent trip to Ocean City, Maryland.

Steeple At Sunset

This was shot a few minutes after sunset yesterday. Some of the best color is visible during the 'sunset afterglow.'
